In the top of the eighth inning, Agnes Scott scored three runs and then let their defense hold the Pioneers scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

The Pionners were led offensively by Belle Thomas (2-4, RBI), Kayla Lumley (2-4), Sara Dickson (2-4, RBI) and Ashley Jackson (1-2, RBI).

Thomas's Offense Not Enough for Wesleyan Softball

In their first conference doubleheader, the Wesleyan College softball team improved its offensive performance but still fell short, dropping both games to #21 Piedmont College by scores of 8-0 and 14-0.

Seniors Belle Thomas and Dena Phillips both went 1-for-2 in the first game of the day, but the Pioneers were not able to plate any runs in the five inning shutout.  In the second game, Wesleyan once again had runners in scoring position but failed to bring them in.  Thomas again led the way with a 2-for-2 plate performance, while Ashley Jackson also picked up a hit for the Pioneers.

Wesleyan returns home on Monday afternoon to take on GSAC rival Agnes Scott at the Mathews Athletic Complex.  First pitch is at 5:00pm.
