Volleyball Hosts GSAC Tri-Match with Huntingdon & Salem

Wesleyan College hosted its first Great South Athletic Conference tri-match of the season with Huntingdon College and Salem College.

Christine Tillman collected 10 kills on 12 swing to help Salem extend its GSAC winning streak to three matches to open the 2010 season. The Spirits racked up 15 aces and five blocks to fly past the host Pioneers. Four different Wesleyan players recorded kills while Rebecca Navarre and Ceclia Cortez each finished with seven digs.

Huntingdon College 3, Salem College 1
After splitting the first two sets, Huntingdon hit .207 in both the third and fourth sets to claim a 3-1 victory over Salem in the day's second match. Setter Alyssa Eason finished with a double-double (31 assists / 13 digs) while Clare Shannon and Abby Carter each had 12 kills for the Hawks. Randi Roppolo led the Spirits with 11 kills while Tillman posted nine kills, nine digs and five blocks.

Huntingdon College 3, Wesleyan College 0
A dominant service game carried Huntingdon to a 3-0 win over host Wesleyan in the day's final match. Seventeen Hawks saw action as they improved to 3-0 in GSAC play. Alaina Avera and Adrianne Woodward finished with three kills each while Rebecca Navarre added a team-leading eight digs. Settter Alyssa Eason racked up 19 assists and seven aces to pace the Hawks.

The Pioneers host in-state rival Reinhardt University in Porter Gym on Monday night. First serve is set for 7:00pm.
