Drysdale and Shen Pick Up First Collegiate Tennis Win

The Wesleyan College tennis team took two matches from Oxford at Emory in an exhibition loss on Saturday afternoon.

Despite losing the overall match-up 2-7, the point earned by the No. 3 double team of Venesha Drysdale and Julia Shen marks the first match win of the season for the Pioneers.  The pair came from behind to tie the doubles pro-set match at 8-8 and went on to win the tie-breaker 8-6.  In addition to taking one doubles point from the Eagles, the Pioneers also picked up a singles point by forfeit.

"Wesleyan tennis has really made some strides this spring in moving our program in a competitive direction," stated Head Coach Michael Spivey.  "After three non-conference matches, we have won more games combined (Singles and Doubles) from each of three teams than we did playing against the same teams last year with no changes in our lineup."
Wesleyan returns to the courts on March 3 when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on Columbia College at 3:45pm.
