Wesleyan's Hunt Seat Team Off to a Strong Start

The Wesleyan College Equestrian Team traveled to Gainesville, Fla., for the University of Florida Hunt Seat Show held on January 22nd. Freshman Beth Hurst earned a second place ribbon in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, while sophomore Stephanie Jamison brought home a very respectable fifth place ribbon. In Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, senior Lorikim Morris earned reserve place.

“I am so proud of Beth,” said Head Coach Courtenay Bunn, “She has worked hard since the beginning of the year, and this weekend that hard work paid off.”

The team then traveled to Georgia Southern University the weekend of January 29th and 30th to compete in two more Hunt Seat shows. In the first show, sophomores Chanda Chrzanowski and Stephanie Jamison each earned fifth place ribbons in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. In Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, senior Lorikim Morris also placed fifth, while freshman Beth Hurst earned a sixth place ribbon in Advanced
Walk/Trot/Canter.

In the competition's second show, Lorikim Morris improved on her performance earlier in the day by earning a fourth place ribbon in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter. In Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, Stephanie Jamison
and Beth Hurst brought home fifth place ribbons, while Chanda Chrzanowski finished in sixth place.

Most recently, the Pioneers traveled to sunny Miami, Fla., to compete in another Hunt Seat show on February 5th. Sophomore Stephanie Jamison earned a very respectable third place ribbon in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. Sophomore Chanda Chrzanowski earned fourth place in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, and in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter senior Lorikim Morris placed fourth.

“Stephanie did a great job,” said Bunn, “Her hard work and dedication paid off this weekend.”
