Making up games that were rained out earlier this season, the Wesleyan softball team travelled to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Huntingdon College in more Great South Athletic Conference action. The Pioneers lost both games of the doubleheader, 7-0 and 8-1, dropping them to 3-24 overall and 2-8 in GSAC play.
Wesleyan struggled to get the bats going in the first game of the day, generating only four hits in a 7-0 loss. Sophomore reserve Dena Phillips led the Pioneers offensively, going 2-for-3 from the plate, raising her batting average to 0.259.
In the day's second game, Wesleyan made five defensive errors that allowed eight Huntingdon runs in an 8-1 loss. Dena Phillips once again went 2-for-3 from the plate, leading the Pioneer offense that picked up seven hits for the game. Huntingdon senior Autumn Trimback paced the Hawk offense, going 3-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBIs.
The Pioneers will travel to Decatur, Ga. tomorrow to wrap up conference play, taking on Agnes Scott College in a doubleheader that will begin at 5:00pm.
