Wesleyan Concludes Most Successful Year in Nearly a Decade

MACON, Ga. - Wesleyan College saw its most successful season in nearly a decade come to a conclusion on Sunday afternoon.

The Pioneers finished 8-12 overall and 5-11 in Great South Athletic Conference play, the most wins in a season since the 2002-03 squad claimed nine victories. Under first year head coach Mike Walton, Wesleyan won eight of their last 12 contests, highlighted by a four-game win streak from Feb. 4-13. The team went 4-2 against the GSAC's other women's colleges (Agnes Scott, Spelman and Salem).

All-Conference candidate Lindsay Haggerty helped spark the turnaround. The 5-8 forward led Wesleyan in scoring in 16 of 19 games and currently leads the GSAC in scoring with her 16.7 points per game average.

Weslyean finished in a three-way tie for sixth in the GSAC with Spelman College and Covenant College, but lost the tiebreaker with the Jaguars for the final spot in the GSAC Tournament.
