The Wesleyan softball team will play its home opener tomorrow, February 17, against Division II opponent Georgia Southwestern.
The Pioneers (0-7) have already faced the Lady 'Canes (2-4) once this season, falling 8-0 in a tournament game played on February 6. In that match-up, Wesleyan struggled at the plate, generating only two hits throughout the game. However in their last outing against Southern Wesleyan, the Pioneers generated 17 hits over the course of the doubleheader, highlighted by an Ashley Jackson home run.
Georgia Southwestern is paced by senior catcher Heather Chambers, who is averaging an impressive .438 at the plate, which has accounted for a quarter of the team's offensive production thus far this season. The Pioneers are led by Lindsey Ambegia, who is hitting .353 with two doubles.
First pitch is at 5:00pm at the Mathews Athletic Complex.
