WESLEYAN UPSET BID FALLS SHORT at AGNES SCOTT

Wesleyan College held the lead late in the first half before second-seeded Agnes Scott College pulled away after halftime in a 53-39 loss in the first round of the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Pioneers trailed by just a point at the intermission in large part because of a seven point advantage held by the Scotties at the foul line. Wesleyan (5-19) saw their offense abandon them in the second half, scoring just 12 points.

Kassie Epps scored a team-best nine points in the loss while Bre' Solomon added eight rebounds and three blocks for Wesleyan. Morgan Smith scored 23 points to pace Agnes Scott.

Wesleyan's five wins exceeded the program's win total from the previous four seasons combined.
